Chad is located in Central Africa, south of Libya. Its terrain is broad, arid plains in center, desert in north, mountains in northwest, lowlands in south. The climate is tropical in south, desert in north. In area, the country is almost nine times the size of New York state, slightly more than three times the size of California.
