Ghana is located in Western Africa, bordering the Gulf of Guinea, between Cote d'Ivoire and Togo. Its terrain is mostly low plains with dissected plateau in south-central area. The climate is tropical, warm and comparatively dry along southeast coast, hot and humid in southwest, hot and dry in north. In area, the country is slightly smaller than Oregon.

Notable exports include gold, crude petroleum, cocoa beans, manganese ore, cocoa paste (2023).

The population includes Akan 45.7%, Mole-Dagbani 18.5%, Ewe 12.8%, Ga-Dangme 7.1%, Gurma 6.4%, Guan 3.2%, Grusi 2.7%, Mande 2%, other 1.6% (2021 est.).
